The Samsung U600 is one of the most important member of second generation of Samsung Ultra edition. Ultra Edition 10.9 – as it is popularly marketed, represents the maturing of the first Ultra Edition both in terms of functionalities and overall designing. While the Ultra Edition successfully placed Samsung mobiles in the minds of modern day mobile phone users, the updated line up – Ultra edition II, aims to take Samsung mobile experience a step further with all types of cutting edge technologies available today.

Meticulous designing is the high point of the Samsung U600. Even the 262k coloured, TFT screen is hidden beautifully within the slider. This makes the handset look like a highly reflective box that could be mistaken for a mirror. The tactile keypad is etched into the glossy surface and glows in blue light when the phone is slide opened. Taking note of all the negative feedback on other fashion models with touch sensitive keypads like the Samsung E900, the manufacturers of the Samsung U600 have opted for a well spaced, conventional one to keep wrong presses to minimum.

The Samsung U600 features a advent grade 3.2 megapixel digital camera on the back of the slider. The digital camera is equipped all necessary mobile imaging aids like autofocus, digital zoom and integrated flash light. Shoot pictures or videos of anything that catches your fancy, create a MMS complete with a photo or video with text and sound and share it with all who missed it. Samsung U600 – Stylish yet powerful

Just when you think that Samsung got their thinnest handset out, it comes ready to show yet another. And this time the one that boasts of being the world's slimmest mobile phone is the - Samsung U600. The handset that comes under the Ultra Edition II, is only 10.9 mm in size, yet surprisingly manages to cramp a comprehensive range of advance features into it. Better still, these features are actually usable.

Feature wise, the Samsung U600 is quite decent as well. It withholds within the power of 3.2 MP camera, located at the rear. Apart from the pixel count, what makes the camera really impressive is its versatility and usability. The camera provides enough control for editing and setting, which include a macro mode, and the ability to change ISO settings. But what mars the mood a little is that the camera lacks Xenon flash, and the weak LED photo light does not really make an impression. Similarly, though the handset has been endowed with autofocus, the speed is so slow that it causes irritation while capturing moving objects.

For treat of beats and ecstasy, the Samsung U600 comes with an impacting Mp3 music player. The sound is impressive (thanks to the digital power amp, developed specifically for Samsung by Bang & Olufsen), and the interface is as excellent as that of Sony Ericsson's Walkman Series. For easy navigation, it offers Quick PC Sync software. Further, the 60 MB of internal memory (with support up to 2 GB of external storage) ensures that all additional tracks can be easily stored. The only disappointing factor in the Samsung U600's musical prowess is, the device lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Samsung U600 comes with a quad band GSM connectivity, but does not offer 3G. It does provide a web browser, but the slow GPRS speed, kills the browsing addiction in you. Connectivity also comes with PC via USB for synchronisation. One can sync things like play list, outlook contacts etc. One impressive feature about Samsung U600 is it can as well be able to transfer media files between PC and phone. One can also use it to store files of any type. For social buffs, and business users, the Samsung U600 comes with an innovative feature. It can scan business card pictures and store the data for future use.

Samsung U600 is also extremely stylish. It comes in many colours such as: Black, sapphire blue, garnet red, copper gold and platinum metal.

Apple iPod Shuffle – Live life less orderly

Loaded with sheer ergonomics to thrill your music world, the Apple iPod shuffle is yet another mark of excellence from the house of Apple. The device is available in two different capability: 512MB and 1GB, and yes priced quite competitively as well. Though there is no screen or display of any kind, operating the device is not lack lustre, for anyways music players that have displays, also have confusing terminology like “root”. Probably Apple though it was best to keep both life and music as simple as possible.

So you might as well wonder how to navigate. Choices are limited though, for either you opt to listen to the tracks in the order of recording, or you use the much hyped ‘shuffle’ feature. At time you might wonder what you are listening to, but if that bothers you much, then surely the device is not for you. For Apple iPod shuffle is designed to grab some tunes and go, without being too bothered about what’s on there.

The feature of Autofill comes a little handy here. This automatically fills up the Apple iPod shuffle with songs from your iTunes library and you can choose/ give preference to songs with a higher rating.

The manufacturer boasts that the Apple iPod shuffle is smaller than the gum. And in fact, it is quite close to its claims. The device is 8.4cm long, a mere 0.84cm thin and incredibly light at only 22g. Having said so, the device can be easily carried around the neck, slip into the pockets/ purses, or wore over the sleeves or belts – all without really being noticed!

In sync with the overall design, the keys of the Apple iPod shuffle are well laid out in a circle, looking like the click wheel of the Nano. Having the control system at the front also brings an added advantage, for, if you are hiding the device under your shirt, it will make the buttons still reachable.

The voice quality is superb, with due attention given to crispness, clarity, bass etc. And the Apple iPod shuffle can run almost for 12 hours, to ensure music becomes your companion so long you are awake.
